PHOENIX — Arizona State Representative Lydia Hernandez and her daughter, Cassandra Hernandez, say the statement issued by the Phoenix Union High School District about them is false.
On Wednesday, district officials claimed that both Lydia and Cassandra Hernandez showed up to Maryvale High School on Monday to "test" the school's security systems. This came just days after a student was killed in a classroom at the school. Both women serve on the Cartwright School District Governing Board, a feeder district to Phoenix Union.
The district alleged that Lydia recorded on her phone as Cassandra Hernandez passed through detectors, activating the alarm. The statement goes on to say that during a secondary search of the bag "believed to be owned by Cassandra", a boxcutter was found inside. The di
