KILLEEN, Texas — Texas police officers and firefighters are used to fighting crime and fires, but this week in Killeen, they came together to celebrate a child who fought a different kind of battle, cancer.

The Killeen Police Department said on Friday, Aug. 29, members of its Community Engagement Unit and members of the Killeen Fire Department welcomed home Charles, a young cancer survivor, who had just rung the bell after being declared cancer free.

The two departments reportedly worked with Charles' parents to help him celebrate the big occasion.
