GROESBECK, Texas — An alleged drunk driver has been arrested after hitting a Groesbeck Police Department vehicle, according to the department.

Groesbeck Police said the crash happened around 6:21 p.m. along South Ellis Street. The department said Officer Flippin was driving south down the road when his vehicle was hit from behind.

The Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash, which resulted in the driver being arrested for driving while intoxicated, Groesbeck Police said. The driver was reportedly taken to the Limestone County Jail.

Groesbeck PD said Officer Flippin did not have any "apparent injuries," but went for medical evaluation. The patrol vehicle reportedly had minor damage.
