Four states have now passed laws to force the baby food industry to test their products and inform families about the levels of heavy metals like lead and arsenic. Illinois is the latest state to pass the legislation this summer, following Maryland and Virginia whose laws were triggered by our reporting. But, we're digging deeper, finding that in the absence of a federal law, there are significant differences in the time and effort required for families to access that important information - making the process often impractical.
