MADISON, Wis. -- The man accused of shooting and killing 20-year-old Devon Grant outside the Harmony Apartments on Madison's far east side in 2023 was found guilty Friday of first-degree intentional homicide as a party to a crime.
Devonte Gafford, 34, was also found guilty of first-degree recklessly endangering safety as a party to a crime.
Friday's verdict concluded a re-trial in the case. A jury in March 2024 found Gafford guilty of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon but jurors deadlocked on the counts of recklessly endangering safety and intentional homicide, and a mistrial was declared.
Gafford shot and killed Grant in an incident that prosecutors said stemmed from a drug deal-turned robbery. Prosecutors said Gafford went to the Harmony Apartment multiple times following the
