SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- The Port of San Diego is advancing its role in coastal management by investing in innovative technologies to enhance environmental sustainability along San Diego Bay.

The Port has launched a business incubator program to support the development of new technologies, including a high-tech buoy from HyperKelp and next-generation shore power solutions from VoltSafe.

HyperKelp's smart buoy, funded with a $250,000 investment from the Port, is currently operational and undergoing testing in San Diego Bay. This buoy represents a significant advancement in monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness of the bay.
