For the second straight night, lightning has caused a delay for El Paso high school football teams.
Canutillo and Pebble Hills were delayed with 11:45 left in the second quarter and Pebble Hills leading, 7-0. The delay happened at 7:05 p.m.
The game is being played at the SAC 1. Del Valle and Montwood are at the SAC,2 and that game's 7:30 p.m. start is also delayed.
Both teams were sent to the locker room, and fans were asked to leave the stadium until the lightning cleared. There is an automatic 30-minute delay from the first lightning strike.
Games at Irvin, Burges, Andress and Horizon were also in a delay.
Any lightning within 10 miles forces a delay, and if the lightning persists, the delay could last longer.
Thursday's Franklin and Chapin game was delayed for about 90 minutes.
