HENDERSON, Ky. - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has finalized plans for maintenance on the Southbound U.S. 41 Bridge in Henderson.
Work will begin Tuesday, September 9th and continue through October 18.
Crews will work daily from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m., restricting the southbound bridge to one lane. There will be no changes to traffic on the northbound bridge.
The project focuses on repairing issues identified during a specialized T-1 steel inspection last year. This inspection differs from the standard biannual checks and specifically tests T-1 steel components.
T-1 steel, used in the bridge since its construction in 1965, is no longer used in new bridges. A fracture in a T-1 steel weld was discovered in 2021 on the Interstate 40 bridge, prompting mandated inspections.
