GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A former mayor of Dunnellon has died.

Nathan Whitt moved to Dunnellon 25 years ago and was mayor from 2012 to 2016.

He also opened Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak in 2001 and has operated it ever since.

An announcement on legacy.com indicates he died on Monday, but doesn’t say how.

A memorial celebration will be held at his store on Saturday, September 27.
