BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – In one of West Virginia’s most anticipated high school football rivalries, the Bluefield Beavers defeated the Graham, Virginia G-Men 20-10 Friday night at Mitchell Stadium.
The victory gives the Beavers a strong start to the season in the annual “Battle of the Bluefields.”
Graham, the defending Virginia Class 2 state champions, kept the game competitive, but Bluefield’s balanced attack and timely defense made the difference.
With the win, Bluefield improves to 1-0 and will travel next Friday to face Mercer County rival Princeton, which also notched its first win of the season under new head coach Nathan Tanner.
Graham falls to 0-1 and will look to bounce back in their next matchup.
