LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - The Longview Lobos used a strong ground game to continue their recent dominance over the Lufkin Panthers in a 41-16 win.

In the first half, following a punt by Lufkin on their first drive, the Panthers’ defense forced a fumble to get the ball back to their offense with good field position. Lufkin needed just one play to score as quarterback Javion Johnson connected with Kaleb Barraza for a 34-yard touchdown pass to put the Panthers ahead 7-0. Longview’s next drive ended in a turnover as well after an interception by Lufkin’s Sam Smith. The Panthers drove 59 yards in eight plays, capped off with a 14-yard touchdown run by Kenneth Waters to give the Panthers a 14-0 lead with 5:26 remaining in the first quarter.
