RUSSELLVILLE, Ky. (WBKO) - The Logan County school board has voted to place a construction Nickel Tax on the November 2026 Ballot.
In June, the school board decided to take action and propose the construction nickel tax.
Logan County Schools proposed an increase in taxes to fund needed operations for Auburn Elementary School. The district plans on building a new facility to keep up with the growing population.
Superintendent Dan Costellow states that, “Over the last four years, Auburn has seen the growth of around 30 students per year, and we’ve based on the information we have and based on this trend, we believe that’s going to continue. We’ve done some redistricting, and that’s helped a little bit, but we know that all we’re going to continue to grow, and we’ve got to do something.”
