Mick O’Dwyer and Brian Cody are automatic choices at No 1, their incredible achievements and records unlikely to ever be surpassed. John Kiely has done enough to take hurling’s No 2 slot, but what of football?

There will, no doubt, be many who argue that Jim Gavin’s extraordinary reign with Dublin takes him closest as O’Dwyer’s nearest challenger, but I have opted for another Dub.
