Russell Westbrook is going through one of the toughest offseasons of his career. After turning down his $3.5 million player option with the Denver Nuggets, his future in the league has become unclear. Reports have even suggested that there’s a possibility Westbrook could enter the upcoming season without a contract.
According to NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin, Westbrook’s situation has stalled due to the lack of interest around the league.
“Westbrook remains a free agent late into the summer after choosing not to pick up his $3.5 million player option with the Nuggets. So far, the market has not responded,” Helin reported.
So far, the Sacramento Kings have been mentioned as a team with genuine interest in Westbrook. But roster complications make a signing unlikely unless they trade Malik Monk,
