Canton McKinley’s late rally not enough in loss to St. Augustine Prep (N.J.)

CANTON, Ohio — Trailing by 14 after the opening quarter of Friday’s football game against the St. Augustine Prep (N.J.) Hermits, the Canton McKinley Bulldogs were still within arms reach of making it a tight ballgame down the stretch.

But Roman Coney’s 77-yard TD trot down the away sideline at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, followed by a McKinley special teams mishap and a Hermits field goal, gave St. Augustine the cushion it needed for a 24-14 victory.
