CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Kirtland defense dominated as the Hornets defeated Crestview 42-7 Friday night.

Kirtland, ranked 11th in this week’s cleveland.com Top 25, is now 2-0. The Cougars fall to 0-2.

The Hornets took command of this game early and held control until the end.

Two rushing touchdowns by running backs John Silvestro and Ty Bledsoe got the scoring started for Kirtland in the first quarter, as they led 14-0 after one.

Silvestro added two more rushing touchdowns in the second quarter as the Hornets extended their lead to 28-0 going into the half.

Jake LaVerde extended the lead to 35-0 with a rushing touchdown.

The Cougars got on the board with a touchdown late in the fourth, but LaVerde responded quickly to put the Hornets back up 42-7. LaVerde ended the night with three rush
