From hot starts to surprising upsets, there was no shortage of excitement across the state. Several players separated themselves from the crowd with impressive individual performances, too.

Carlos Blount Jr., LB, Dowling
A lot of senior experience showed out for the Maroons: Ryan Bobo, Ian Middleton, Jackson Miller, Joel Sankoh. But a newcomer to the team – Blount, who transferred from Ankeny Centennial – made his presence felt. Unofficially, he finished with eight tackles against Valley’s high-powered offense in a 20-19 loss.
