O’Fallon, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Illinois State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on the 600 Block of West Madison in O’Fallon, Illinois, on Friday night.

According to a report by the Illinois State Police (ISP), the incident started just after 7:40 p.m., after O’Fallon Police Officers were called for reports of a man with a knife. Upon arrival, officers say they saw two people covered in blood outside of a home, running from a man with a knife.

Police say that the man refused to drop the knife after police orders. An officer then fired their gun at him, striking the man.

The police report says that officers attempted emergency medical aid for the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
