STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A large marquee sign was hoisted at ShopRite’s newest Staten Island location on Friday and several shopping cart bays were installed in the parking lot of the Great Kills supermarket. According to Wakefern Food Corp., the supermarket cooperative that owns ShopRite, the store is scheduled to open this fall.

Located at 150 Greaves Lane in Evergreen Plaza — in the space formerly occupied by SuperFresh — the store will be ShopRite’s fourth borough store. Its opening will fill a neighborhood grocery gap and bring life back to the shopping center, which has experienced several vacancies over the past three years.

The new supermarket will be operated by Mannix Family Markets, which also operates the borough’s other ShopRite stores in Graniteville, New Dorp and Charlesto
