COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp suspended the Cobb County superior court clerk on Friday after she was indicted for allegedly destroying public records and violating the oath of office.

Connie Taylor was indicted on July 31. According to the Attorney General's Office, the charges stem from allegations that Taylor directed an employee to delete government emails and financial records in October 2022, following the submission of an open records request.

An investigation was conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) and Carr's White Collar and Cyber Crime Unit.

Evidence was then presented to a Cobb County grand jury, leading to the indictment.
