Somerville scored 27 unanswered points, including the only three touchdowns of the second half, to rally for a 34-17 win over Schalick in the season opener for both teams in Pittsgrove.

Aidan Bush had touchdown runs of 1, 41 and 2 yards and Justin Bowen scored from 1 and 2 yards out to help the Pioneers start the season with a victory for the third year in a row.

Schalick scored on its opening play when David Stewart took a pitch 47 yards to the house. Hunter Dragnotta added the extra point and kicked a career-high 39-yard field goal later in the first quarter to make it 10-0.

After Bush’s first TD made it 10-7 in the second quarter, Kenny Bartee returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a score to increase the lead back to 10.
