NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) - A motorcyclist was reported dead after exceeding speeds of 140 mph on Interstate 264 W, according to Virginia State Police.
The incident happened around 1:24 a.m., when a VSP trooper noticed the motorcyclist traveling over 100 mph in a 55 mph zone. After the trooper turned on their lines the motorcyclist failed to stop, prompting a pursuit.
In the pursuit, took the Ballentine Boulevard exit, running a red light, and re-entered I-264 W. Troopers say speeds during the pursuit exceeded 140 mph.
The driver then exited Brambleton Avenue at high speeds, before running another red light at Parks Avenue.
Troopers say the motorcyclist veered off the road near Marshall Avenue before crashing head-on into a concrete wall at the end of Brambleton Boulevard.
