FRANKENMUTH, MI – The Labor Day Bridge Walk is returning to Frankenmuth next week, marking the 39th anniversary of the tradition that attracts hundreds of residents and visitors.

The event will begin at noon on Monday, Sept. 1, at the east side of the 239-foot bridge near the Bavarian Inn Lodge, located at 1 Covered Bridge Lane.

The bridge stretches across the Cass River and spans from the Bavarian Inn Lodge to the Bavarian Inn Restaurant, which are hosting the event.

Originally built in 1980, the covered wooden bridge is also known locally by the German term for such bridges, “Holz Brücke.”

The bridge was built using wood from Oregon, while its shingles and the 16-foot planks forming the roadway were locally sourced.

The public is also invited to stop by the restaurant’s outdoor café
