The Beer Store closes in Blind River

The Beer Store’s Blind River location has closed as part of the retailer’s modernization efforts.

Based at 115 Causley St., in the community of 3,400 since at least 1965, The Beer Store closed Aug. 24.

“ The Beer Store is modernizing operations to meet evolving consumer expectations,” said Ozzie Ahmed, vice-president of retail, in an email to The Sault Star. “Unfortunately, this includes making the difficult decision to close some stores.”

The number of workers affected by the store’s closing was not released.

Five other locations, including stores in Atikokan, Garson and Powassan, also closed their doors in late August.

The Beer Store location in Wawa shuts on Sept. 28.
