A 26-year-old former employee with Danville Public Schools is facing multiple counts of production of child pornography.

Clearance Austin was arrested Aug. 20, according to the Danville Police Department. Online court records indicate that the suspected offense occurred on Dec. 13.

Austin worked with the school system from Dec. 11, 2023, to Aug. 11 as an information technology media assistant, Lanie Hayes, a spokesperson for the school system, confirmed to the Register & Bee.

A person in that role generally works in a school library.

Hayes said the school system shared a message with parents on Thursday surrounding the incident. However, that message did not mention Austin by name.
