GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A Greensboro couple never thought they would see their English Bulldog ever again.

Lynnie and Lasal Stacks believe Professor was taken from their yard in Greensboro six years ago.

"We looked everywhere. We got a search part together like he was a human," Lynnie said.

As the years went on, they never gave up hope.

In mid-August, the Stacks got an unexpected call from the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

8-year-old Professor came to the GCAS as a stray.

The shelter scanned his microchip and found his family.
