ST. HELENS, Ore. (KPTV) - The St. Helens School District on Friday released an investigative report ordered by the Columbia County Special Deputy District Attorney and pledged major reforms based on its findings.
This follows a year of public scandals in the district. Two former St. Helen’s High School teachers, Eric Stearns and Mark Collins, were arrested for sexually abusing students.
In cases involving both teachers, St. Helen’s High School leadership failed to notify police or state authorities, according to the report.
District leaders acknowledged the sensitive nature of the report and said they’re committed to transparency, accountability, and rebuilding trust with students, staff, and families.
