Coachella Valley Unified School District has entered into a contract with the state's fiscal watchdog, securing a study of its finances at no cost to the district as it works to close a multimillion dollar deficit.

Finalized in early August, the agreement authorizes the Fiscal Crisis and Management Assistance Team, the state agency that oversees district finances to prevent insolvency, to carry out an additional comprehensive fiscal analysis. This will include an independent multiyear financial projection and cash flow analysis based on CVUSD's adopted budget in June, Michael Fine, CEO of FCMAT, said.
