BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football coach Curt Cignetti offered a pointed critique of his team’s execution in a 27-14 win over Old Dominion.
The Hoosiers rebounded from allowing a 75-yard rushing touchdown on the opening play but struggled to put the game out of reach and ultimately failed to live up to Cignetti’s lofty standards.
“Wins are hard to get, 1-0, but I guarantee you, everybody in this organization realizes we didn't play as well as we wanted to,” Cignetti said. “That's just a flat out fact.”
Cignetti wasn’t shy about pointing out some of the positives — ODU couldn’t advance the ball through the air against IU’s secondary, the Hoosiers rushing attack averaged 5.4 yards per carry and Cal transfer Jonathan Brady had an electric 91-yard punt return — but those were all balanced
