HARRIMAN, Tennessee — Update (6:30): 17-year old Riley Pawlick appeared in Roane County Court in person for the first time since the death of 18-year-old Holden Howse.

The teenager appeared in plain clothes but was handcuffed. As he was leaving the court room, he mouthed "I love you" to his family. The hearing lasted approximately 10 minutes.

Pawlick is represented by Brian Nichols, a Loudon County attorney. Nichols attended the hearing virtually.

No cameras were in the courtroom, however, it was discussed that if the media requests cameras in the courtroom in the future it will be allowed. The prosecution argued that lots of information about the incident was already on social media.
