CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The annual 'Around the Crown' 10k is set to take off Sunday morning, and one runner is asking drivers to be aware of their surroundings after several runners could've been hit by a driver who ran into a wall nearby.

"It was a little scary. We weren't really sure what to do," said runner Erica Campbell.

She recounted the time she was frozen in her tracks during her first time running in the 10k. She and a friend were coming down the exit ramp to get to the straightaway on the highway when something wild happened.

"A car on the opposite side of the road had run into the wall, and we had happened to be right next to the wall," she said.
