WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Downtown Winston-Salem businesses say a proposed 5,000-seat amphitheater could boost sales and bring more energy to the city’s core.
The project, slated for a lot between the Benton Convention Center and First Baptist Church, is scheduled to go before the Winston-Salem City Council on Tuesday. Private investors, including Flow Automotive CEO Don Flow and Concert Stuff Group CEO Jim Brammer, are funding the development with no public money or incentives.
Managers of nearby restaurants and shops say they believe the project would drive more foot traffic.
“I think that getting an amphitheater here would be a great thing for Jeffrey Adams and really just for downtown in general,” said General Manager Matthew Saseen.
