It has been nearly a decade since the last time a true freshman started in a season opener for Florida football.

True freshman wide receiver Vernell Brown III not only made the most of the rare opportunity, but turned it into an unforgettable night with a viral, highlight reel-worthy catch in Florida's 55-0 season-opening win over Long Island University on Saturday, Aug. 30.

Brown's moment came in the final minute and a half of the second quarter as Brown took off a for a post route. The 5-foot-11,178-pound receiver turned and back pedaled before coming down with a one-handed grab for a 41-yard highlight-reel catch.
