BOISE, Idaho — A group gathered at Julia Davis Park on Saturday for their third performance, combining live painting and chanting to advocate for justice in cases of police brutality. Each performance they have done has had a different theme.
The Chanting Choir and Tableau Troupe, led by artist and longtime educator Mark McGinnis, performed. At the same time, McGinnis created a painting centered on the theme "I can't breathe," a reference to George Floyd's death in Minneapolis police custody.
"There's no more time more urgent to be an activist than right now," said McGinnis, who has been creating art and teaching for more than 50 years.
The performance also highlighted the case of Victor Perez, a child shot by four Pocatello police officers in April. Members chanted for justice in Perez
