EUSTIS, Maine — A boat crash Saturday afternoon killed two women and injured another, leaving her in critical condition.
A group of seven people were boating in the upper reaches of Flagstaff Lake around 1:30 in the afternoon, according to Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife spokesperson Mark Latti.
Latti said the bow of the pontoon boat started to go under water when it was in front of the Cathedral Pines Campground beach area.
Eustis man John Morris was driving the boat, trying to raise the bow. The boat continued to go under water, flipped, and threw all seven people into the water, Latti said.
Witnesses on the lake and shore, which was about 180 feet away, rushed to the boat and brought all seven back to shore.
Three women were unresponsive, and witnesses performed CPR
