CASCO, Maine — A Hiram man is dead after a single car crash that ended in a fire early Sunday on State Park Road in Casco, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Around 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to a crash involving a fire near the Casco/Naples town line.
Deputies found a silver 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee fully engulfed in flames, officials said. The driver, 35-year-old Nicholas Strout from Hiram, was found outside the car with life-threatening injuries.
Strout died from his injuries at Bridgton Hospital, according to officials.
Officials said the initial investigation indicated Strout was traveling west on State Park Road toward Naples when his car went off the road and struck a large tree.
