CHICAGO (WLS) -- At least 58 people have been shot, eight fatally, in shootings across Chicago over the Labor Day weekend, police said.

The weekend gun violence comes as the Trump administration prepares to potentially deploy the National Guard to the Chicago area.

Tuesday morning, President Donald Trump posted on social media, "I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC. Chicago will be safe again, and soon."

The Bronzeville neighborhood saw two mass shootings within 48 hours.

Five people, including a 17-year-old who suffered critical injuries, were shot near 36th and Cottage Grove by Ellis Park early Monday.
