AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A child is in the hospital after being pulled from a backyard pool in the West Valley late Saturday night.

Around 9:30 p.m. , Avondale police officers were called to a home near Rancho Santa Fe Boulevard and Thomas Road , east of Dysart Road. Police say a child was pulled from the backyard swimming pool.

Avondale firefighters arrived on scene and rushed the child to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

It’s unclear how long the child was in the pool. The investigation remains ongoing.
