Outlander's Sam Heughan has looked back warmly on his "idyllic childhood" spent growing up amongst the remnants of a crumbling castle in Dumfries and Galloway.
The Scottish actor shared how thankful he was for his Scottish upbringing. Much like Jamie Fraser's lifestyle, he was raised in converted stables close to the ruins of Kenmure Castle, sections of which stretch back to the 16th century.
Heughan described his Galloway hometown vividly as "an undiscovered world" and a "remarkable place". Speaking before his latest business endeavour, he revealed plans to create his own vodka using the "finest ingredients" from Galloway, including wheat, apples and brambles.
