LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was hospitalized early Sunday morning after they were hit by a car just outside of Lincoln.

Just after 5:45 a.m., first responders were sent to the area of 27th Street and Rokeby Road for a car vs. pedestrian crash.

According to the Lincoln Police Department, a 37-year-old was running south on 27th Street when a car hit them from behind.

LPD said the runner was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

LPD said no impairment of the driver is suspected at this time and no citations have been issued.

The investigation is ongoing.
