PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. — One woman has died and another was critically injured when they were hiking on an Oro Valley trail in Pima County, according to authorities.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department said on Saturday, it received reports that the two women had been injured when they were hiking on the Linda Vista Hiking Trail.

The sheriff's department coordinated with several agencies, including multiple state and fire department agencies, to search for the women.

According to the sheriff's office, searchers found the women "a short distance apart" from one another.

One of the women was found on a desert trail. She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

The second woman was pronounced dead on the scene. She was identified as 53-year-old Lyn Lagergren.
