A man was found dead in a pool of blood at Burning Man on Saturday night in an apparent homicide, the Pershing County Sheriff's Office said Sunday.
The man's identity is not known and no idetails on the possible cause of death have been released.
Deputies found the body at 9:14 p.m. as festivities were kicking off for the burning of the Man. The wooden effigy is burned in a pyrotechnic show on the second-to-last night of the annual festival. Thousands of people gather in colorful costumes while loud music blares from art cars.
According to the sheriff's office, a deputy was flagged down by a participant who found the body.
