New Orleans Police Department is asking the public for help locating a critical missing woman.

Police are searching for Yandra Gomez, 30, who is 5'0 and weighs 170 pounds. She may be carrying a pink-color backpack and primarily speaks Spanish. Advertisement

According to police, Gomez's family discovered her missing from her residence in Algiers around 8:30 p.m.

Gomez and her family recently relocated to New Orleans about three weeks ago and she is not familiar with the area.

Police said her family is concerned for her safety because she also has medical issues and is intellectually disabled.

An active search for Gomez is underway. Officers are currently canvassing the area, knocking on doors and requesting support from neighboring districts to aid in the search.
