Two small planes collided midair Sunday morning near a municipal airport in northeastern Colorado, according to local Morgan County authorities.

Black smoke plumes appeared in the distance from Fort Morgan Municipal Airport's control tower camera in Morgan County.

The crash was first reported around 10:40 a.m., according to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.

It is unclear if there are any deaths or injuries as a result of the accident.

Authorities said one plane caught on fire and the other sustained serious damage.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will investigate further, sheriff's office officials said.
