The Mason City Police Department and the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of North Delaware Avenue shortly before noon Sunday.

An officer at the scene said the suspect had not been caught yet.

Officers could be seen canvassing the area and speaking to residents as the investigation remains underway.

Sgt. Terrance Prochaska told the Globe Gazette that the victim self-transported to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center for non-life-threatening wounds.

He also said a fight escalated into the shooting.
