JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ark. — After more than three decades of public service, Jefferson County Circuit Clerk Flora Cook-Bishop announced she will retire at the end of her current term on December 31, 2026.
In a public notice, Cook-Bishop reflected on her tenure, highlighting improvements to customer service, modernized records, and enhanced transparency.
"I am deeply proud of the progress we have made together," she said, citing the introduction of technology that streamlined juror selection and enhanced fairness in the courts.
Cook-Bishop also used the announcement to endorse Connie Compton, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, as her successor. She described Compton as "well qualified and experienced" with a background in government and public service.
"I believe Connie's proven judg
