Sometimes lost in the early-season mismatches between small schools and Power Five behemoths are personal football accomplishments.

Two Portland State seniors from Clark County achieved milestones on Saturday. Jacques Badolato-Birdsell and CJ Jordan each made their first starts for the Vikings in a 69-0 loss to BYU in Provo, Utah.

Badolato-Birdsell, a running back from Camas High School, was awarded a Portland State football scholarship prior to this season. He had been a walk-on after transferring from Nevada before the 2024 season, in which he played mostly on special teams or in a back-up role at running back.

On Saturday, Badolato-Birdsell had 12 carries for 28 yards, including a long of 18 yards.
