President Donald Trump's former "fixer" filleted the president's handling of the U.S. economy in a new essay published in Sunday.

Michael Cohen, who served as Trump's personal attorney at the Trump Organization, wrote in a new essay for the MediasTouch Network that Trump's economic policies are creating higher costs for Americans. Cohen also accused Trump administration officials of "peddling fairytales" to convince Americans that Trump is addressing the country's affordability crisis, like he promised during his 2024 presidential campaign.

"People know the truth every time they scan their debit card," Cohen wrote. "You can’t gaslight a receipt."

"And let’s be clear: this isn’t a mystery of global supply chains or some vague 'market forces' jargon economists use to lull you into a food coma," the essay added. "This is deliberate neglect."

"Trump’s policies have been a gift basket for corporations and a kick in the teeth for consumers," it continued. "Meatpacking monopolies are raking in record profits while you’re deciding between ribs and rent. The White House could rein them in, but that would mean siding with you instead of their billionaire donors. And that’s never happening."

Cohen added that these policies are "stealing a slice of normal life" from working-class Americans by making their Labor Day barbecues more expensive.

"But here’s the part that really gets under my skin: they think you won’t notice," Cohen added. "They think you’ll swallow the propaganda while swallowing your overpriced hot dog."

"They think as long as Trump is waving his arms, doing the weave, shouting 'fake news,' and blaming immigrants, you won’t realize that it’s your wallet getting gutted while billionaires toast to their tax breaks," he continued.
