ATLANTA — In poetic fashion, Beamer Ball shined through for South Carolina football in the season-opening 24-11 win over Virginia Tech .
Coach Shane Beamer faced the Hokies , for whom he played (1995-99) and served as an assistant for his father Frank Beamer (2011-15). Frank Beamer coached Virginia Tech for 29 seasons and put a major emphasis on special teams, which coined the term "Beamer Ball," now a mantra used by Shane Beamer at South Carolina.
