CLOQUET, Minn. (Northern News Now) - An International Overdose Awareness Day event was held at the Veterans Park in Cloquet on Sunday.

The event was organized by Kerrie Sorenson, who lost her own daughter to an overdose three years ago.

”I’m here because my daughter died from an overdose when she was 22, and from 20 to 22 it was a hard ride," said Sorenson, who wishes she had known about the resources available sooner.

The event’s focus was to showcase resources to help those dealing with addiction with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa’s Mobile Health Unit vehicle at the park, handing out free Narcan kits and more information on harm reduction.

But Sorenson also wanted everyone in attendance to find support and others to communicate with.
